I am also working on some collaborative pieces with Jay Scantling, that features two aliens (the extraterrestrial variety) stranded by accident on Earth.  These characters, named Jose and Jaime, first appeared as poseable sculptures and I used them in sculpture installations that focus on political issues from an outsider’s perspective. These issues are something our society can not ignore as they will eventually lead to war with other countries and within ourselves.   The aliens appear again, this time in 2D in a zine co-written with Jay Scantling called ¡Tiempos Extraños! The zine addresses the persecution of immigrants and the erosion of civil rights and liberties in the United States today as seen through the eyes of these aliens.  I plan to use the 3D sculptures (and their 2D analogs) for further political art pieces in the future.
